Life lessons gradually pass through my brain’s dense gray matter. I try hard to make things happen and worry that the world won’t unfold as I want it to. However, whispers echo in my ears: “Don’t try so hard. It will happen.” Life is coming full circle, reminiscent of the days I first got sober—simple messages and apparent observations. It's been almost 35 years, but still, the feeling can be elusive.
In my past, I thought: if I don’t drink, maybe bad things won’t happen. Today I realize: if I trust myself, bad might happen but I can handle things anyway.
Do you see the trend? Worrying about life doesn’t lead you anywhere. Striving hard on the outside while stressing on the inside doesn’t lead you anywhere. The only thing that truly works is walking toward your destiny, one step at a time.
